A+ Program

Hurley High School was designated as an A+ School by the Missouri State Board of Education. Establishing Hurley High School as an A+ School was dependent upon the combined efforts of students, parents, community members, faculty, staff, administrators and school board members.  As we strove for A+ Schools designation status, we developed a Partnership Plan and adjusted our high school program to measure up to the state A+ Schools standards. It has been, and will continue to be, the goal of Hurley High School to combine technology and effective teaching practices to improve test scores, decrease the dropout rate and provide graduates with marketable academic and technical skills.

The key goal of the A+ Schools Program is to assure that all students, when they graduate, are well-prepared to pursue advanced education, employment or both.

Goals of the HHS A+ School Program:

  1. To ensure that all students graduate from high school.
  2. To ensure that all students complete a selection of high school studies that is challenging and has identified learning expectations.
  3. To ensure that all students proceed from high school graduation to a college, a post-secondary vocational-technical school or a high wage job with work place skill development opportunities.

Student Benefits:

  • Money for tuition and books to attend a Missouri public community or technical college
  • Opportunity to learn about careers at the place of business as well as in the classroom
  • College credits while still attending high school
  • Tutoring and mentoring experience
  • Career Pathways to help provide a focus and guidance
  • Encouragement to attend school regularly and work hard
  • Experience using computers and other technologies to solve problems

A+ Financial Incentive:

Students graduating from Hurley High School who meet the A+ Schools requirements are eligible to receive financial assistance to cover the cost of tuition, general student fees and up to *50% for books (dependent upon annual funding by the state legislature) to attend a two year Missouri public community college or vocational/technical school.

*Funding for books is not available at this time. Students must buy their own books and they will not be reimbursed for this expense.
