Parents as Teachers

Superintendent – Doug Arnold
Principal – Kelli Alumbaugh
Parent Educator & Supervisor – Mary Carlson

Hurley Parents as Teachers is now enrolling for the 2012-2013 school year.  All parents expecting a baby or who have children up to pre kindergarten age are encouraged to enroll. PAT is a free and fun program designed to give parents an understanding of how young children grow and learn during the most crucial years of life, where more is learned than any other time of their lives.  Children are born to learn, and PAT can assist parents in being the best first teachers for their children.

Kids do not come with an instruction manual, but Parents as Teachers provides the next best thing. Mary Carlson visits families at home or at the Hurley Early Childhood Center.  The program helps parents feel more confident about their care giving skills, teaching them how to better interact with their children, and connecting them to community resources that serve families.  PAT also provides screenings to identify developmental problems early.  PAT believes that early interventions can help give all children an equal start in school.

PAT Vision:  All children will learn, grow, and develop to realize their full potential.

PAT Mission:  To provide the information, support, and encouragement patents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

Research shows that children whose families have been in PAT are better prepared and have greater success in school.  Help your child be ready and enroll today.  For more information please call:
